Abstract

Cassava Rubber(Manihot glaziovii) is a type of tubers that has carbohydrate content of 98,5%, which is potential as raw material for bioethanol production. Bioethanol is an alternative energy yielded from hydrolysis of starch in to glucose which is then fermented using yeast “tape”and saccaromyces cerevisiae to yield bioethanol. The purpose of this study is to find the optimum total time and yeast time period on the ethanol with produced. The research was carried out in several stages, including the acid hydrolysis of cassava starch to glukosa and continued fermentation of glukosa to ethanol. Using co-culture technique in prosess of fermentation to produce bioethanol gives better results than the use of a single culture.The results showed that the fermentation total time variable 1, 3, 5, 7, and 14 days earned the highest ethanol content is 23,4747% at 3 days fermentation time. While, for the yeast period variable, the optimum conditions yielded 32,0109% on volume concentration of 5,0%. Bioethanol purification was by distillation process. while the ethanol concentration measurements with alcoholmeter.
