Abstract

Tofu liquid waste is the liquid produced from the rest of the washing process, boiling, pressing and printing tofu which is often called whey. Tofu liquid waste has a lot of problems in the environment because the result of degradation causes bad odour compounds. There is still a lot of tofu waste that is immediately disposed of without first processing. The manufacture of organic fertilizer from tofu liquid waste is expected to reduce the environmental pollution, and also increase the economic value of the wastewater itself. The purpose of this research is to know the potency of tofu liquid waste to be liquid organic fertilizer. The variables studied included the effect of fermentation time, and the addition mass of eggshell flour to the content of N, P, and K which was fermented with the EM4 bioactivator on the resulting liquid organic fertilizer. The pure liquid tofu waste contains N 0.06% (mass), P 222.16 ppm, and K 0.042% (mass). With a 12-day fermentation time using EM4 and 10 grams of eggshell flour addition, the N, P and K contents increased to N 0.09% (mass), P 601.00 ppm and K 0.098% (mass). The longer the fermentation time and the more eggshell flour added, the value of N, P, and K content in pure liquid waste will be higher so that it can meet the standard of liquid organic fertilizer.
