Abstract
Krueng Aceh was one of the rivers affected by the tsunami in 2004. The impacts are agradation due to residual waste of the tsunami, and degradation caused by massive large-scale sand mining for post-tsunami reconstruction. This is worsened by the loss of river data and Floodway design due to tsunami attack, therefore, how much the occurrence of agradation and degradation and the ability of Floodway in flowing discharge are unknown. The purpose of this research is to observe the width and depth of flood in Banda Aceh due to Krueng Aceh's return periods (2, 5, 10, 25 and 50 years), to know the flood threat in Banda Aceh, and to know the effectiveness of Floodway Krueng Aceh development in reducing the floods in Banda Aceh. Flood inundation analysis were conducted with a hydraulic approach combined with DEM to limit flood-affected areas. Hydraulic calculations were performed using the data of discharge and water level height on Reudeup bridge and highest high water level (HHWL) on downstream of Krueng Aceh and Floodway. The simulation is to compare the simulation of pre-floodway with that of post-floodway. The simulation is executed with numerical using Mike 11 GIS software. Based on data and analysis using Mike software, it can be seen that Floodway's role in overcoming floods in Krueng Aceh is very significant because it is able to reduce the upstream discharge of Krueng Aceh by 68.13%, thus only 31.87% that flows into Krueng Aceh main river. While the results of mike gis which is overleyed with landuse are obtained from the result of inundation that occurred in Krueng Aceh; it occurs at Floodway estuary that inundates embakments/ ponds, so there is no threat due to inundation of Krueng Aceh.
