Abstract

Sekar Nugraheni. S. 200150038. Thesis. Study Program of Magister of Language Study, Post Graduate of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta. This research aims at: (1). describing and explaining the value of multicultural education in the text book of Indonesian Language of curriculum 2013 for the students of Senior High School. (2). describing the relevance of the value of multicultural education in the learning of Indonesian Language di Senior High School. This research was conducted using the descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this research were the textbook of Indonesian Language for senior high school of curriculum 2013. The technique of data collection used the technique of content analysis, documentation, observation and interview. The data validity was conducted using the technique of data and source triangulation, meanwhile, the data analysis used the technique of interactive analysis. The results of this research revealed that (1). The value of multicultural education in the textbook of Indonesian Language for senior high school curriculum 2013 which was analyzed had not fully contained the dimension of multicultural education. It was proved that from the five dimensions of the existing multicultural education, only two dimensions appeared, they are the dimension of material integration and the dimension of prejudice reduction. The quality of the content of multicultural education on the two books had not been sufficient. (2). The relevance of the learning of multicultural education in the learning at senior high school revealed no relevance between the textbook and the lesson plan. It was proved by the comparison between the content of the multicultural education in the textbook of Indonesian Language and the lesson plan in each class: class X which was 57,14% : 41,6% and class XII which was 14,28% : 42,8%.
