Abstract

Society places students in roles in social life, then the students need to have a mature thought and a strong mental to solve problems faced in university. Student organizations are needed by activist students to develop their talents and potential to create a better life. The purpose of this research is to know the problem solving on students who are active in the organization with a qualitative approach. Participants in this study were 2 subjects in each organization unit, that is ormawa unit, publishing unit, martial arts unit, arts unit, sports unit and special unit residing in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using descriptive analysis. The results showed that problem solving on students who are active in the organization is: see the problem as positive thing, consider the problem as a way of self-evaluation, and as an experience for life. The perceived obstacle are: uncooperative members, and lack of self-confidence. The way to solve problems is by hold a meeting, talking directly to members who are troubled, draw closer to members. Factors that affect problem solving are the gender, position in the organization, emotional, situational, imitative behavioral and group differences in the organization.
