Abstract

Background: The highland is a land located at an altitude above 200 msl with temperatures of 23-28˚C and humid climate, while the lowlands are a vast expanse of land with a height measured from the sea level is with 200 msl with temperatures can reach 35ᵒC during the day and 24ᵒC at night. If viewed from air temperature and oxygen (O2) between highland and lowland areas have different availability of O2 and PO2. VO2 max is very important for physical performance and health in general because during hard work, a person's body needs 20 times the normal amount of oxygen. VO2 max is the maximum volume of oxygen processed by the human body to the maximum, in other words VO2max means the volume of oxygen that can be used when working as hard as possible. Research Purposes : To know the difference in VO2 max values in adolescents in highland areas and in lowland areas. Research Method : The research type is observational with cross sectional approach with point apporoach research design.Respondents from this study were 52 people consisting of 28 people in the highlands and 24 people in lowland areas. Measurement of VO2 max value is done with Multistage Fitness Test (Bleep Test). Technical data analysis using Independent Sample t-test. Research Finding : Based on the results of the Independent Sample t-test obtained results 0.411 then p ≥ 0.05. Conclusion : There was no difference in VO2 max values in adolescents in the highlands and lowland areas.
