Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the influence of the variation of the size of inlet mold (ingate) to shrinkage, porosity defect, hardness and micro photo. The raw materials of this research are used alumunium or rosok from various components in re-cast. In this study will be examined variation of inlet size (ingate) Ø 0.5 cm, (ingate) Ø 1 cm and (ingate) Ø 1.5 cm. Tests to be undertaken include density test, brinell hardness test (ASTM E-10 standard), chemical composition test (ASTME-1251), and micro-photo test (ASTME-3standard). The results showed that the chemical composition found chemical element (Al) 86,17%, Silicon (Si) 8,10%. So from the existing elements of this material including aluminum alloy silicon Aluminum (Al-Si). The highest mean shrinkage result is in the location of the inlet (Ingate) Ø 0.5 cm by 2.81%, while the inlet (Ingate) Ø 1 cm 2.78%, and the smaller shrinkage value lies in the inlet ( Ingate) Ø 1.5 cm 2.66%. The highest density result is in (Ingate) Ø 1 cm 2,44, while (Ingate) Ø 1,5 cm 2,1 got the lowest density value at (Ingate) Ø 0.5 cm 1,67. The highest hardness price is in (Ingate) Ø 1 cm 96,416 (BHN) while (Ingate) Ø 1,5 cm 94,719 (BHN) and lowest percentage value lies on (Ingate) Ø 0.5 cm 90,58(BHN)
