Abstract

Help is a natural human tendency in social life. Please help also called prosocial behavior. Although prosocial behavior is common in everyday life, but prosocial behavior is considered very important because to meet the needs of human life to do social action one of which is prosocial. Without prosocial behavior, a person will be selfish, selfish and self difficult to socialize with others. One example of prosocial behavior is blood donation. Blood donors are an activity to help people who are deprived of blood, volunteers will release what is owned by the blood and give to others who need it. The purpose of this study was to describe the prosocial behavior of active blood donors in PMI Solo by revealing the reasons for causing someone to donate blood actively. The subjects or informants in this study were 5 active blood donor volunteers with eligible criteria ie donor donor blood ± 4 times. This research uses descriptive-qualitative approach with phenomenology research model, data collection using semi structured interview (semistructured interview). Data analysis technique used in this research is interactive data analysis technique consisting of 4 stages that is data collecting, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that an active blood donor has more than 4 times donated blood within 3 to 4 months. Blood donor volunteers have different reasons to actively engage in blood donation activities: religion, habits, empathy and self-will
