Abstract

This study aims to perform 1. reverse engineering on outer rear bumper cars Esemka Rajawali II and 2. injection molding simulations to predict the presence of defects in the manufacture of rear bumper. There are three stages in reverse engineering. The first stage is making 3D images from 2D car sketch Esemka Rajawali II. The second stage is scanning data outer rear bumper which is then processed with CAD software into 3D images. The final stage is comparing 3D image data from 2D sketch images with 3D images from scanning data. The fluid flow simulation software is used to perform injection molding simulations. The simulated object is rear bumper, where the rear bumper will be placed an injector. There are 4 points used as the injector variable. The first variable is in the coordinates (752, 391, 239), the second variable is at the coordinates (1327, 712, 220), the third variable is at the coordinates (449, 710, 182), and the fourth variable in the coordinates (1448, 574, 237 ). The results show that in the reverse engineering process there is an average size difference of 2.78% of the 3D image comparison of 2D sketch image processing with 3D images from the results of scanning data processing. In the simulation of injection molding known that the 3 variables is the best variable with injection time for 7.41 s, the percentage of warpage defects of 11.3% and the shrinkage percentage of 7.40%.
