Abstract
Interpersonal communication is one of level communication that connects a relationship include the relationship between foster child with caregivers orphanage. Self-disclosure of foster child can help their self to reduce depression and lack confidence in adjustment to the environment. This research aims to describe how the self-disclosure of foster child to the caregivers at the time of adjustment to the environment. The type of research is qualitative reseach, with descriptive approach. Population of this research are foster child at Aisiyah orphanage with technic purposive sampling, with four foster child as the sample. Technique of collecting data which is done by in-depth interview with new foster child that one untill two years stay in orphanage. The results of this study related to self-disclosure of foster child to caregivers in the adaptation that is different interpersonal needs for each foster child. The needs are include, inclusion, control, and affections. Another finding found in this study is that foster child have no significant problems with caregivers during the adaptation. While related to self-disclosure, each foster child also has a different level or level of self disclosure. The level of self-disclosure includes cliches, facts, opinions and feelings. Self-Disclosure of foster child to caregivers raises the comfort of child living in a orphanage. The problems or barriers to self-disclosure of foster child is influenced by two factors from internal and external factors.
