Abstract

His study aims to describe public awareness for the ownership of birth certificate in Wiroragen Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo District, including public awareness, obstacles faced and solutions. This research uses qualitative research, with case study strategy. Technique of data collection is done by observation, interview and documentation. Test the validity of data with triangulation of data sources and data collection techniques. Data analysis uses interactive analysis techniques through data collection, data reduction, presentation and conclusion. The results showed that for the birth certificate the applicant is required to have a letter of introduction from the doctor, midwife or birth attendant then the applicant completes the requirements such as family card, parent's identity card, marriage book. Then the applicant requests a letter of introduction from the local village head who proceeds to the district office to fill out the form and proceed to the sub-district to submit the form which will be forwarded to the civil registry to be issued his birth certificate. Although birth registration procedures tend to be easy, many people are still procrastinating to take birth certificates for newborns or birth certificates that have been lost. Constraints encountered when making birth certificates are very diverse as distance factors and lack of information about birth certificate procedures. The solution is by conducting counseling or socialization about the making and ownership of birth certificate in the community, with the socialization of the citizens will get information and aware that every individual is important to have birth certificate, the next solution is the local village to provide assistance services for its citizens difficulty in arranging birth certificate due to distance and age.
