Abstract

Concrete is a composite material consisting of coarse and fine aggregates mixed with water and cement as a binder and a coarse and fine aggregate filler, sometimes added additive or admixture when necessary. Various research on concrete has been done a lot. In this study to replace a portion of the fine aggregate utilizing the tire waste (crumb rubber) and to replace a portion of the cement utilizing sugar cane waste. The aim of this research is to know the comparison of normal concrete with concrete using crumb rubber with variation of 10%, 20% and 30% from fine aggregate volume and molasses drop 0,2% from cement weight. This research uses experimental method to get data of research result that needed for the purpose of discussion of existing problem. Cylindrical test specimen with diameter 15 cm and height 30 cm. Number of specimens each 3 samples each variation of crumb rubber and molasses. Tensile strength testing and tensile strength were performed at 28 days. The calculation of concrete mortar design using SNI 03-2834-2000 method. The results showed that the weight of concrete content decreased on each addition of crumb rubber. The compressive strength and tensile strength also decreases with the increase of crumb rubber content. Strong average 28 consecutive days 27,82 MPa; 23.30 MPa; 25.94 MPa; and 20.18 MPa, and on the 28-day average tensile strength 2,62 MPa; 2.31 MPa; 2.52 MPa; and 2.05 MPa. If the crumb rubber content used is more than 20% decrease in compressive strength is very high, so the addition of crumb rubber more than 20% is not recommended.
