Abstract

ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTAL MONITORING AND DISCLOSE OF CHILDREN ON PARENTS WITH ADOLESCENT SEXUAL BEHAVIOR Diyah Candra Dewi Faculty of Psychology Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta diyahcandra75@gmail.com Adolescent sexual behavior is influenced by the role of parents in monitoring their adolescents activity and the role of adolescents to disclose to the parents. The research aims to determine the relationship between parental monitoring and children disclosure on parents with adolescent sexual behavior, to determine the relationship between parental monitoring with adolescent sexual behavior, and to determine the relationship between children disclosure on parents with adolescent sexual behavior. Population of this research are adolescents at state senior high school in Surakarta which amounts to 8 schools with research samples of class X and XI from one of state senior high school in Surakarta which amounts to 110 students. The sampling technique used is Quota Cluster Sampling. Data analysis techniques used is Spearman's rho non-parametric analysis. The result did not prove a relationship between parental monitoring and children disclosure on parents with adolescent sexual behavior. This is due to one of the unmet conditions of data is not normally distributed. The correlation results of parental monitoring with adolescent sexual behavior proved to be negative and significant, that means there is a negative relationship between adolescent sexual behavior with parental monitoring. The correlation results of children disclosure on parents with adolescent sexual behavior behavior proved to be negative and significant, that means there is a negative relationship between adolescent sexual behavior with children disclosure on parents. The effective contribution of parental monitoring on adolescent sexual behavior is 5.76%, while the effective contribution of children disclosure on parents to adolescent sexual behavior is 12.67%. So, the effective contribution of parental monitoring and children disclosure on parents to adolescent sexual behavior is 18,43%. It can be concluded that adolescent sexual behavior can be predicted from the level of monitoring by parents to adolescents and the level of children disclosure on parents. The implications of this study indicate that parents' efforts in controlling adolescent sexual behavior required of self disclosure from children.
