Abstract

The aims of the study are: 1) to describe the forms and meaning of the implicature in Solopos Radar Solo daily newspaper, 2) to reveal the implementation of the implicature in Bahasa Indonesia teaching learning of the vocational high school. It is a qualitative study using triangulation theory based on the assumption which is its reliability facts cannot be examined using one or more theories in the studied case. The technique of collecting data is document analysis. The data are analyzed intralingual and extralingual sinchronization data. The result of the study is the form and meaning of the implicature on Solopos radar solo daily newspaper and the implementation in teaching Bahasa Indonesia in Vocational High School. The form of the implicature in the daily newspaper is the form and meaning of the implicature. The utterances lies in the daily newspaper including four aspects; those are statement, interrogative, command and exclamation. The meaning the implicature found in the stidy is various depending on the utterance context. The meaning found are criticism, irony, and suggestion. The study can be used as teaching material to understand news item, especially in the basic competence 3.3, which is analyzing history text, news item, advertisement, editorial/opinion, and fiction in a novel either spoken or written. Teacher must integrateand be selective in selecting teaching material for students before teaching it to the students. Teachers also must learn whether the material is suitable or not to be delivered.
