Abstract

Concrete is a composite material (mixture) of several materials, the material consisting essentially of a mixture of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water and other additives by comparison.Today coal waste often gets the spotlight, because it can cause carbon dioxide gas tha t is harmful to the environment. With various co nsiderations then developed the material as a binder for the manufacture of concrete. One of the materials used is ash waste coal (fly ash) . By utilizing fly ash as an added material for the manufacture of concrete is considered to reduce emissions of carb on dioxide gas in the air . In this study the specimens used were cylinders, with a diameter of 15cm and a height of 30cm. Tensile and compressive strength tests were performed on concrete days 1 day and 28 days. The variations on the test include the cemen t water factor of 0.3, 0.35 and 0.4 and the mixing mixture variation of concrete at 5; 7.5 and 10 minutes. In the concrete test, the highest compressive strength and tensile strength of the concrete were mixed with 7.5 minute mixed time and 0.35 for the fa s. So it can be concluded that the highest mixing time of concrete mixture is 7.5 minutes with the cement water ratio of 0.35. If less than 7.5 minutes result in less binder binder. And when mixing time more than 7.5 minutes resulted in the binder's declin ing power. This results in the compressive strength of the concrete at the time the test is decreased. So also with the use of cement water ratio, the best variation is 0,3 5 with a compressive strength value of 17.8344 MPa (1 day), 32.4605 MPa ( 28 days) an d a value of 1.7929 MP a (1 day), 3.2083 MPa ( 28 days).
