Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease that occurs because the pancreas can not produce insulin or chronic disease that occurs when the body can not effectively use the insulin that is produced. DM illness can lead to some dangerous complications. So it is necessary once to take precautions in order not to experience complications, one way to prevent distress to increase knowledge. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge at the level of distress in patients with DM in Hospital Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. The study population was all patients with diabetes mellitus type II in accordance with the inclusion criteria, totaling 86 respondents obtained by purposive sampling technique. This type of research used in this research is quantitative, descriptive correlation research design, which uses aapproach. cross-sectional Collecting data using questionnaires, while analysis using Spearman rank correlation test. Spearman rank correlation test results r values obtainedcount of 0.451 with a significance level (p-value) of 0.001. Value test of significance (p-value) is less than 0.05 (0.001 <0.05), the decision is a test of H0 is rejected. It is concluded that the level of knowledge in diabetics mostly higher, while in most of the distress level is low, and there is a relationship between the level of knowledge at the level of distress in patients with DM in Hospital Dr. Moewardi Surakarta.
