Abstract

Based on the result of research shows that the soil in Sukodono, Sragen is included in high clay plaster, with LL = 76,50%, PL = 25,29%, PI = 51,21%. In terms of PI value = 51.21% (more than 17%) then the soil needs to be made land improvement by stabilizing the soil chemically using gypsum with the percentage of gypsum added 0%, 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% is expected to improve soil physical properties and soil bearing capacity for the better. Tests of soil physical properties include moisture content, specific gravity, atterberg boundaries, filter analysis, and mechanical tests including Standard Proctor and CBR soaked tests. The result of physical characteristic test of soil and mixed soil in this research got value of water content, plastic limit, liquid limit, shrinkage limit, pass filter No. 200 decreased, while specificity gravity value increased. Soil Classification with percentage of gypsum 0%, 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% according to AASHTO system included into group A-7-6, whereas according to USCS belong to CH group. The result of test of mechanical properties from Standard Proctor test of soil mixture of gypsum 0%, 2.5%, 5%, and 7,5% increased in dry volume weight and optimum water content value decreased. The maximum dry weight volume value is 1.342 gr / cm3 and the lowest optimum moisture content is 24%. Soaked CBR values have increased with increasing percentage of gypsum. The largest soaked CBR value with a 3% value in 7.5% gypsum addition. Development value has decreased maximally in the addition of 7.5% gypsum with development value of 1.13%.
