Abstract

Global warming and greenhouse gas gases are always an issue in developing and developed countries. The high amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can damage atmospheric coatings, destroying nature. Reducing the amount of carbon is one of the benefits of plants that are able to absorb carbon. The pattern of plant typology in community forest areas has different capabilities of total carbon stock and total biomass produced. Plant typology that is often used for community forest area is agroforestry and monoculture. This research uses SPOT 6 image data to know the distribution of community forest area in Pajangan District, Bantul Regency, D.I.Y. This study aims to: 1) determine the potential for absorption of carbon dioxide emissions of community forest areas; 2) determining carbon stock of community forest area; 3) analyze the effect of plant pattern on the absorption of carbon dioxide for community forest area; 4) to map carbon stock of community forest area in Pajangan Sub-district. The research method used in this research is survey method using purposive sampling technique to complete the data related to remote sensing related to total of biomass and amount of carbon stock. Total biomass processing data using allometric formula and total carbon stock is derived from total biomass (0.5 total biomass). A simple regression example, where the dependent variable is the amount of carbon stock and the indepent variable of tree trunk diameter in the field. GIS (Geographic Information System) is used to present the data in depth and interesting for easy understood distribution of agihannya. The results of this study indicate: 1) absorption of carbon dioxide emissions of community forest area of 357.8 Kg / m² or BT = 105.5 Tons / ha of total area of community forest 4,710 m²; 2) carbon stock of community forest area (SDM) of 178.9 Kg / m² or C = 52.7 tons / ha of total area of community forest 4,710 m²; 3) plant patterns affect carbon sequestration and carbon quantity. The typology of agroforestry plants is capable of producing higher absorption than monoculture. 4) Triwidadi Village is dominated by typology of agroforestry plantation for community forest area of 785 m² from total area of HR 4,710 m²
