Abstract

Mental health in Indonesia is still not a priority agenda. This is evident from the low government investment in health and community awareness of mental health and community empowerment not robust. Though their autonomy enables local governments to improve mental health in its territory. The role of health workers in maintaining quality public health is very important. Increasing the role of health workers, especially in the field of mental health really needs to be improved, because of the low participation of health cadres in maintaining the quality of community mental health. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on the level of knowledge, attitudes, and intentions on health workers on how to care of mental patients at the health center post Jatinom stocks, Klaten. This research is a form of pre-experimental with one group pre testandpost test design. The study population are all health workers in health centers Jatinom Klaten district by the number of cadres as many as 30 people. Samples are 30 village cadres cup with mental patients after most stocks in the region of Jatinom health centers with a total sampling technique. Research data collection using a questionnaire and analyzed using paired samples t-test. This study concluded that there were significant differences in knowledge, attitudes and intentions about the care of patients with post-stocks before and after health education on mental health cadres in Puskesmas Jatinom Klaten. Provision of health education proved to be effective to increase the knowledge, attitudes and intentions about the care of patients post-stocks on health cadres in Puskesmas Jatinom Klaten.
