Abstract

Soil as the foundation base of a fixed construction that must be able to bear the load on it without experiencing a basic failure, bearing capacity of the land in question and the settlement maybe due to the addition of the load above it so that the decline is within the limits permitted. In the study of land that has a bad nature of the land in the village of Troketon, Pedan, Klaten that often suffered damage to road construction. Therefore it is necessary to do soil improvement by stabilization. The research method through a series of tests in the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta includes the testing of water content, specific gravity, soil filter analysis, atterberg limits, standard proctor, and decrease of soil consolidation with each soil testing mixed with tras variations in addition of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. According to AASHTO, the original soil of Troketon belongs to the A-7-5 group, it is a ground of clay with a general assessment of medium to poor base for the construction base, whereas according to USCS belongs to CH group (organic clay with high plasticity). The result of the consolidation decrease test has the highest Coefficient of consolidation value of 0.0071 cm2/sec with the mixture of 20% tras, the Compression Index and the Lowest Settlement of Consolidation value of 0.2169 and 0.0627 cm with the 20% tras mix.
