Abstract

Concrete slabs are often done at night until early morning. Research about concrete mixed using of ice water utilization, fly ash and retarder which is assumed to slow the time of hardening concrete (setting time) has not been done yet. The purpose of this research is to know the temperature of concrete and setting time of concrete on rigid pavement using ice water utilization with temperature variation 5oC, 10oC, 15oC, 20oC and 27oC, while the concrete characteristic to flexural strength and compressive strength is analyzed in concrete mixture with utilization of ice water, fly ash and retarder. The total number of mixed concrete variations there are 11 kinds, while for the number of test specimens, the compressive strength is 55 specimens and the flexural strength is 33 specimens. The method used for concrete temperature calculation using ACI (American Concrete Institute), 2010 and CCAA (Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia), 2004, while the proportion of concrete rigid pavement mixture based on the Highways and Toll Road Specifications of 2015 Referring to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements on concrete structures. Based on the analysis, it indicates that the cooler water used, the lower the temperature of the concrete produced, the trend of setting time to the lowest temperature having a longer time. Concrete characteristic toward flexural strength based on laboratory investigation of concrete mixtures utilizing water, fly ash, retarder tend to have a better flexural than the other concrete mixtures, when the water temperature is increased flexural strength is decreased. Meanwhile, toward compressive strength, based on investigation resulting trend concrete mixtures utilizing water, fly ash, retarder tend to have a better compressive strength than the other concrete mixtures, when the water temperature is increased compressive strength is increased.
