Abstract

Wall is part of a non structural element building which vertically arranged. In general, walls are made out of red bricks or mortar-coated stones. Wall panel is one of technological developments product in building materials field (Precast concrete). Precast Concrete is pre-molded concrete which prepared according to its work application so it can efficiently save more time and cost. Composition of the wall panel used in the research are cement, sand, fractional tile, HDPE plastic waste (high density polyethylene), water and wiremesh for reinforce improvement. The purpose of the research is to find an alternate version of walls which hopefully will be more practical and efficient compared to the conventional one. Specification of the wall panel was using fas: 0,5 with 1:5 ratio of fine aggregate and cement mixture. Three samples without plastic mixture and 9 samples containing plastic mixture were manufactured each for concrete cylinder and wall panel. The diameter and height of the cylinder are 15 cm and 30 cm respectively while the size of the wall panel is 50 cm x 60 cm x 7 cm. The compressive and shear strength were determined for concrete cylinder and wall panel with addition HDPE plastic waste with variation 0%, 4%, 6%, and 8%. The compressive strength results were valued in 16.135 MPa, 4.133 MPa, 3.831 MPa, and 3.416 MPa while shear strength results were valued in 793,651 kN / m2, 619,048 kN / m2, 571,429 kN / m2, and 460,317 kN / m2. The result of samples with plastic mixture compared to the ones without plastic mixture were found to be decreased by 30.84% in compressive strength and 16.37% in shear strength.
