Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the oppression issue in Rainwater novel (2009) created by Sandra Brown. The oppression issue in this novel used sociological approach to be analyzed. Novel itself is the primary data sources of this study and the secondary data source taken from internet such articles, journals, books and many other sources related with it. The result of this study showed the following conclusion. Firstly, there are third types of oppression as likes exploitation, marginalization, and violence. Secondly, the researcher illustrated the oppression by using the character and characterization, setting, event, diction, and symbol. Thirdly, the reason why the author shows oppression issue in this novel is to give the message that oppression must go away from every region.
