Abstract

This study aims to describe the process, impact, various constraints and alternative solutions for the development of social and social character through traditional games Engklek to children in Warujayeng Village Tanjunganom District Nganjuk District, which is given. This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data with triangular sources and techniques. Data analysis applies flow model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that traditional games Engklek can develop social character and social care for children in Warujayeng Sub-District Tanjunganom District Nganjuk. The impact of the development of friendly and socially responsible character is that children are better able to get along with their friends well, to respect other people's opinions, to share with others, to work together, to motivate each other, to prioritize common interests rather than self-interest, understanding and tolerance to the differences, never having the intention to harm others, to share and listen to others, not to degrade others, to work together, and to care for all beings. Constraints that occur are also limited land issues, the easy boredom arise when playing only one kind of game, and requires a long duration. Solutions to overcome the existing obstacles that are holding competitions including Engklek, parents should give a lot of time to the child on Sunday, and the provision of game land that makes it comfortable in playing.
