Abstract

This study explains interreligious friendship in An Abundance of Katherines novel. This study clarifies the indicators of interreligious friendship. This study also shows how interreligious friendship is depicted in the novel, and shows the reason of John Green why he took interreligious friendship in the novel. This research is qualitative research. This research was analyzed by using sociological approach. The primary data source was taken from An Abundance of Katherines novel by John Green. The secondary data source was other source that related to the primary data. The result of the study showed the following conclusions. First, there were four indicators of interreligious friendship such as shared identity, ethical obligation, mutual trust, and generosity. Second, interreligious friendship was depicted in the novel through character and characterization and through events. Third, the reason why John Green raised interreligious friendship in his novel was reflect as well as to criticize the social society in that era.
