Abstract

Purwogondo, Kartasura, Sukoharjo is one of the centers of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of Tofu as many as 38 IKM with different production capacities where there are 2 IKM that already have Waste Water Treatment Installation (IPAL) itself. The existence of the process of making tofu with almost the entire process of using water causes the stench around the river flow because the waste flows directly to the river without any special treatment on the IKM that do not have IPAL. The research was carried out by two environmental assessment methods, namely laboratory test of waste generated from the entire IKM and measuring the comparison of Eco Efficiency Index (EEI) and EER Rate of two IKM using Eco Indicator 99 (H) method with gate to gate scope. The Eco Indicator method 99 (H) is used for environmental impact categorization resulting from the manufacturing process of knowing the two IKM by using SimaPro 8.3.0.0 software. The results of laboratory tests showed results above the environmental standards with BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) of 248.8 mg / L and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) of 494.2 mg / L. Eco Cost IKM 1 amounting to Rp5,601,038.00 and eco cost of IKM 2 of Rp3,543,179.00. Eco Efficiency Index (EEI) indicates IKM 1 of 0.1528 and EEI IKM 2 of 0.0278 which means that both IKM are financially affordable but not environmentally friendly (not sustainable)
