Abstract

This study aimed to describe the profile of metacognitive students with high math ability, medium, and low in problem solving circumference and area of triangle views of aspects of metacognitive skills of planning, monitoring, evaluation. This research is a qualitative research. The timing of the studies in the second semester of the 2016/2017 academic year. Subjects in this study were class VII F SMP Negeri 17 Karanganyar Surakarta totaling 25 students. The data collection technique using the test method, interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique is done with three stages of data reduction, data presentation, verification and drawing conclusion. The results show that students have high mathematical skills meet the metacognitive skill indicators in the planning, monitoring and evaluation phases. Students who have mathematics are meeting metacognitive skills monitoring indicators, but have not been able to maximize metacognitive skills in aspects of planning and evaluation. While students with low math skills have not been able to use metacognitive skills aspects of planning, monitoring, and evaluation with the maximum.
