Abstract

This study describes the problem of this study is to reveal women’s right for recognition and career reflected in The Devil Wears Prada movie based feminist approach. After analyzing this movie, the writer finds two objectives, the first is to analyze the play in term of structural elements of movie and second is to analyze the play based on the Liberal Feminist Approach. This study is qualitative study. There are two kinds of data sources: primary and secondary data. The primary data is The Devil Wears Prada movie and the secondary data sources are the books about feminist and also the other materials related to the analysis. The method of collecting data is purpose sampling by watching carefully the movie and then researcher took sample of dialogue and ellipse of picture of the movie then used it as a starting point to analyze the issue. In analyzing the data, the writer employs descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that, first, structural elements of The Devil Wears Prada movie built good production. Second, there are five women’s right in The Devil Wears Prada movie, they are right for education, right for occupation, right for expression, right for divorce and right for self-determination. Third, there are some criticism which are reflected in The Devil Wears Prada movie. In The Devil Wears Prada movie, the director wants to say that women’s right should be recognized and they deserve to become career women.
