Abstract

Neonates are the first period of life at the outside of the womb until age less than a month. Which is have the highest risk of health problems. Neonatal mortality contributes 59% to infant mortality at the age of 0-28 days. Therefore neonatus visit needed. Just 13,7% complete neonates visit in Sangkrah public health center of Surakarta city. This study aims to explore the relationship between mother characteristics, knowledge and attitudes about neonatal care with neonatal visits in the work area of Puskesmas Sangkrah. The type of this research is observational with cross sectional approach. The study population was all infants aged 1-12 months calculated per march 2017 in the work area of Puskesmas Sangkrah as many as 654 babies with 277 sampel were taken by Proportional random sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship of parity (p-value = 0,006) and maternal knowledge (p-value = 0,005) with neonatal visit in work area of Puskesmas Sangkrah, but nothing relation with age (p-value = 0,266), education (p- Value = 0.318), job status (p-value = 0,292) and attitude (p-value = 0,796).
