Abstract

The purpose of this research is to 1) get citric acid adhesive composition that is most appropriate in the manufacture of fibrous composite kapok wood so obtained a strong composite and absorb sound well. 2) results recommendations on the feasibility of a composite made of wood fiber and adhesive kapok wood citric acid as sound absorber. The research was conducted using experimental method in the laboratory by doing mechanical and acoustic testing of all samples of composite test specimens. The composite uses a dry wooden (ceiba pentandra) catalyst (10% moisture content) passing a mesh screen of 10 meshes and stuck with a 100 mesh sieve. The percentage of adhesive variation on the wood used is weight fraction 2½%, 5%, 7½%, 10%, 12½%, 15%, 17½% and 20%. The applied pressure is the same for all test samples that is 20 ton / m2 and pressed in hot condition with temperature 120 ° C. The mold size used is 30 cm x 30 cm x 2 cm and produced particle board with size 30 cm x 30 cm X 1 cm. Test Sample is made according to SNI 03-2105-2006 standard. The results showed that Composite particle of rican wood with citric acid matrix has optimal strength at certain ratio that is 7.5%. While the test results strongly hold the screw also shows at the same ratio of 7.5%. While the results of sound absorption test produced by composite particle of rican wood in the citric acid matrix with the content of 12.5% of 0.5430.
