Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the application of Project Based Learning method in science subjects in class V SD Muhammadiyah 21 Baluwarti academic year 2016/2017, 2) to describe the increase of V grade students participation through the application of the method of Project Based Learning in science elementary school Muhammadiyah 21 Baluwarti academic year 2016/2017. This study includes the type of classroom action research. Data collection techniques used are, observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of data used analysis of data flow model that includes data collection, data reduction, and data presentation. The results showed that: 1) Research by applying Project Based Learning method has been able to improve the process of science learning in kels V, indicated by the learning media so that students easily receive the subject matter. 2) the implementation of Project Based Lerning method there are 4 stages of determining the objectives and determining the project to be done, starting work on the project, making changes / improving the project being done, presenting the project results, the research results for each indicator increase participation can be described As follows: a) Active work on the problem at the initial conditions of 41.1% increased to 78.6%, b) Active question asking on the initial condition of 32.1% increased to 78.6%, c) At the initial condition of 37.5% to increase to 82.1%, d) Active to make conclusions on the initial conditions of 33.9% to 78.6%. Thus it can be concluded that the implementation of the method of Project Based Learning can increase the participation of students learning class V SD Muhammadiyah 21 Baluwarti academic year 2016/2017.
