Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in student learning outcomes between classes that utilize video learning with a class that does not utilize learning videos on the subjects of social studies students of class VIII in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. Subjects in this study were students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta namely class VIII A as a control class of 28 students and class VIII B as an experimental class of 28 students. The experimental class is treated using video learning in the learning process while the control class is not treated by not utilizing the learning video but using the accompanying book or module as usual done by the teacher in the learning process in the class. Data collection methods used were observation, test and documentation. Test the instrument using validity and reliability test. Technique of prerequisite test of data analysis using test of normality and homogeneity. Data analysis technique to test hypothesis using t-test. The result of the research shows that there are differences in the students' learning outcomes between classes that utilize learning videos with classes that do not take advantage of learning videos on the subjects of Social Studies in Grade VIII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in 2016/2017. And in this study shows that the learning outcomes in the subjects of social studies of grade VIII students using video learning better than those who did not use video learning, with an average score of 76.96 for the control class and 86.14 for the experimental class.
