Abstract

This research aims to find out: (1) the mistakes made by students in solving the problems questions about the building of flat side space (2) factors that causing students made a mistakes in working on the problem of building a flat side space. The type of the research is qualitative research. The technique of collecting data as follows: tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of research the students made mistakes such as: (1) mistakes to receive information include (a) error in writing what is known cause is the students do not carefully read the problem, students do not understand the elements of pyramid (b) error in determining what asked the cause because students are not careful in read problem (2) errors related to the concept of a flat side room wing include (a) an error in applying and using the cause formula because the student is not thorough in the work, the students don’t understand the meaning of the problem, and the students forgets the formula (b) the student's mistake finding in the of a surface area beams cause students not thorough in reading about and count (c) the error in finding the volume of the cube is the lack of understanding of students in reading the problem (d) the student's mistake in finding the volume of the prism of the cause is the students lack understanding of the concept of prism (e) error in finding high pyramid the cause of the error is the student does not understand the elements of pyramid and just put the numbers into the formula (3) the cause error in calculating is the student not careful in calculating and entering the numbers into the formula.
