Abstract

The transportation complexity in Surakarta has similar problem with other big cities in Indonesia, however it has been done traffic management effort such as one way traffic in fact it is not solved the traffic jam. The study about traffic conditions thoroughly toward road network needs to be done, not only as congestion at a spot, but also as a wider area around that location. Basically, this reasearch is aimed to find out the network performance at segments around intersection in Kerten Areas Surakarta including Kerten, Manahan, Purwosari, Uniba, Jongke Intersections. The performance of road segment is defined by saturation flow, while intersection is defined by saturation flow and delay. The data is obtained primary and secondary datas. Secondary data consist of: research location map, population of Surakarta, time signal, additional travel time, length of road segments and also width of shoulder and curb distance. Primary data consist of: geometric of intersection and segment, environment and side friction around network and traffic volume. Primary data is obtained data from traffic volume carried out for 1 day at morning (between 06:00-08:00 AM) and afternoon (between 16:00-18:00 PM) peak periods. The network performance is analyzed by using Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) 1997. Based on the segments results analysis present the performance condition at Kerten Areas stated that quite stable, while at intersections are mostly oversaturated condition, except Jongke Intersection. This condition is based on DS majority value at road segments is less than 0.75, while at intersection, it nearly or more than 1,0. Traffic volume occurred at morning peak (06:30-07:30 AM). The volume distribution and delay value at each intersection are Manahan Intersection 6404.3 pcu/h and 1132.9 sec/pcu, Kerten Intersection 3136.8 pcu/h and 187.7 sec/pcu, Jongke Intersection 2516.1 pcu/h and 10.6 sec/pcu, Purwosari Intersection 6968.2 pcu/h and Uniba Intersection 3852.7 pcu/h and 124.8 sec/pcu. Based on CRF analysis, route factor value is more than 1, it means that SSA scenario from the cumulative recapitulation have longer travel time in the center point in Purwosari Intersection.
