Abstract

Neonatal Sepsis is a clinical syndrome of systemic disease accompanied bacteremia, that occurs in infants in the first month of life. The incidence of neonatal sepsis in developing countries and developed countries increased. In addition, the high morbidity and mortality found in infants who suffering sepsis. Many factors can lead to sepsis and one of the complications that often arises is hyperbilirubinemia. The purpose of this study is to know the relationship between neonatal sepsis that may affect the incidence of jaundice in newborns in general hospitals Karanganyar. This research method using observational analytic design with cross sectional approach. The research was done on December 2016 in the unit of medical record general hospital Karanganyar. Number of samples of this study each of 35 patients with neonatal jaundice and not neonatal jaundice with the restriction criteria, using purposive sampling technique. The technique of analyzing data is using Chi-square with SPSS 17 for Windows. The distribution of 70 respondents obtained as much 15 neonates have history neonatal sepsis of which 12 neonatal jaundice and 3 not became neonatal jaundice. The result of Chi-square analysis shows the significance value as 0,009 (p<0,05). The conclusion there are found the relationship between Neonatal Sepsis with The occurrence Neonatal Jaundice in Regional General Hospital Karanganyar.
