Abstract

The object of the research is the movie entitled Joan of Arc. The study focuses on the struggle of Joan. The major problem of this study is how the struggle for gender equality is reflected in Joan of Arc movie by Luc Besson based on Feminist Perspective. This research aims to analyze movie through its element and to analyze the struggle of Joan in Joan of Arc movie based on feminist perspective. This research paper is qualitative research. The object of the study is Joan in Joan of Arc movie. The primary data source of the study is Luc Besson movie that is directed by written by Luc Besson, Milla Jovovich, Dustin Hoffman and Andrew Birkin, distributed by Columbia Picture. The secondary data sources include reference and materials related to the study picking up from books or internet. The methods used for collecting data are library research and documentation. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The result of the study reveals the struggle of Joan in Joan of Arc movie. Joan of Arc movie, represents Luc Besson’s response to the twentiets century American society. He reflects the struggle for equality in position, role, right and participation in the fight as a French soldier. The gender equality can be achieved by giving opportunity both men and women to choose their roles freely and responsibly.
