Abstract

Background: Infants with low birth weight (LBW) is one of the risk factors that contribute to infant mortality. Babies with low birth weight (LBW) is still a problem throughout the world because it is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of newborns. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year there are 5 million deaths of neonates with neonatal mortality rate (death within the first 28 days of life) is 3/1000 births life 98% of these deaths are from developing countries. (WHO, 2008; MOH, 2008) In Southeast Asia neonatal mortality rate is 39/1000 live births. According to WHO, quoted from the State of the World's mother in 2007 (data from 2000 to 2003) pointed out that 27% of neonatal deaths are caused by Infant Low Birth Weight (LBW). (WHO, 2008; MOH, 2008) lbw be one cause of the increase in neonatal mortality.(WHO, 2008) Thoroughly neonatal deaths occur in LBW as much as 60-80%. Neonatal deaths in Indonesia caused by LBW alone amounted to 38.85%. In 2010 the prevalence of LBW in Indonesia reached 9-11%. In the region of Central Java in 2011 amounted to 21 184 cases of cases of low birth weight, or 3.73%, whereas in 2012 there was an increase that is 21 573 cases or 3.75%.From the data obtained happens numbers steady increase from 2008 to 2012. (Central Java Provincial Health Office, 2012). For the scope of the Hospital PandanArangBoyolali own the data obtained in the period January - March 2016, from 33 babies born with low birth weight, 100% at risk of infection. (Pandan Arang Hospital Medical Record). Conditions of babies born with low birth weight are often not as good as normal infant's condition in general. Many issues can occur in infants with low birth weight as a risk of infection, difficulty breathing, hypothermia and reflexes make up less or nutritional deficiencies can occur.The author will discuss about the efforts of the Prevention of the risk of infection in LBW infants with expected outcomes baby's temperature returned to normal, there seems reddish and bluish on the baby's body and no signs of infection. Based on the above phenomenon the authors are interested to lift the title of a scientific paper "Prevention Risk of Infection in Infants Hospital Perinatology LBW in Ward PandanArangBoyolali".
