Abstract

This study aims to examine whether there are differences in cognitive development between the use of learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL) with Non Problem Based Learning (NPBL). Subjects in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Jogorogo Ngawi in the academic year 2015/2016. Class XI IPS 3 amounted to 30 students as an experimental group treated with a learning model learning Problem Based Learning (PBL) and class XI IPS 4 were 30 students as a control group treated with Non learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Methods of data collection is done through tests and documentation. To test instrument using validity and reliability of the test. Techniques of data analysis prerequisite test using test of normality and homogeneity. Data analysis techniques to test this hypothesis using t-test. The results showed differences in cognitive development between the economic subjects that students learn to use learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL) with students who learn to use learning models Non Problem Based Learning (NPBL). It can be seen from the average value of class XI IPS 3 as the experimental group using model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is 86.33. While the average value of class XI IPS 4 as a control group using Non learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is 81.30. The study concluded that there are differences in the cognitive development of economic subjects of class XI student by using model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students who learn by using model Non Problem Based Learning (NPBL).
