Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that increasing constantly and followed by the occurrence of complications. This aims of study to determine patterns of bacteria and resistance to antibiotics in patients with diabetic gangrene of Hospital PKU Muhammadiyah in Surakarta from February until March 2016. The study was conducted with a sample of pus diabetic gangrene patients at Hospital PKU Muhammadiyah in Surakarta from February-March 2016. The bacterial resistance test using disk diffusion method on Mueller Hinton’s agar. Analysis by measuring inhibition zones of each antibiotic then interpreted by the standards set by the CLSI. Results obtained from 10 isolates of primary data indicate that the predominant Gram-positive bacteria are Staphylococcus aureus as much as 60%. Staphylococcus aureus has a high resistance to antibiotics amoxillin (67%), the antibiotic ceftazidime; erythromycin; tazobactam by 50%, antibiotics gentamycin (33%), the antibiotic ciprofloxacin; tetracycline; meropenem; oxacyclin by 17%, and lowest resistance to the antibiotic trimethoprim (0%). Gram-negative bacteria Shewanella putrefaciens 100% resistant to amoxillin, tetracycline, and oxacyclin. Pseudomonas fluorescens 100% resistant to amoxillin, erythromycin, tetracycline, and oxacyclin. Providencia stuartii 100% resistant to ceftazidime, erythromycin, tetracycline, and oxacyclin. Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant 100% against amoxillin, ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin, oxacyclin, and tazobactam.
