Abstract
This study has four purposes. (1) To describe the cultural social background of the writer. (2) To describe the building structure of SJHPD novel. (3) To describe the meaning of the search of the truth comprehension in SJHPD novel. (4) To describe the implementation of SJHPD novel in Senior High School literature teaching. The method of the research is qualitative descriptive. Using embedded case strategy. The research object that is studied in this research is the search of the truth in SJHPD novel written by Agus Sunyoto. Data in this research is language explanation in from of novel quotation relatited with search the truth in SJHPD novel. Data resources which is used in this research is SJHPD novel written by Agus Sunyoto edition I published in 2012 by PT LKiS Printing Cemerlang Yogyakarta publisher. The technique of data collection is book technique. The data validation using data triangulation and theoretical triangulation. The technique of data analysis using semiotic analysis by heuristic perusal and hermeneutic. There are four results in this study. (1) According to cultural social Agus Sunyoto’s works nuances lokal cultural and religious. (2) The building structure of the novel has elements functionally as support for one another. (3) The comprehension of the meaning of the search of truth in SJHPD novel can be done by three steps, studying from the characteristic of the devil, spiritual journey, truth discovery. (4) This novel can be used in the Senior High School literature learning because had fulfilled five criterias in lesson substance selection.
