Abstract

Adipic acid shaped crystal with white color that odorless and a little bit acid. The adipic acid crystal shaped monoclinit, looks like needles and has 5461 A refraction index. Adipic acid discovered at 1902 from tetramethilene bromide, a principal element that consist at sugar beet. After 1937 adipic acid got the commercial production by Du Point company, whom introduced the adipic acid as the raw material of nylon 66. The process of adipic acid making can be operate in the mixed flow reactor tank. In this reactor, the reaction take place in liquid phase, in the same direction, release heat, temperature stays at 70 degrees celcius and the pressure 3,5 atm. The need of sikloheksanon for 10,364.58 kg/hour and nitric acid for 7,291.66 kg/hour. The need of adipic acid approximately for 10,416.67 kg/hour. Process support utilities such as saturated steam are 736.83 kg/hour that produce by steaming water process on boiler with 2,236 liter/hour solar fuel, the need of electricity by PLN and generator set amount of 350 KW. Adipic acid factory needs fixed capital amount of Rp 682,960,950,738 and working capital amount of Rp 69,274,736,026. The result of economic analysis showed that this factory has profit before tax amount of Rp 309,514,065,328/year after 30% tax reach Rp 216,659,845,279/year. Percent return of investment (ROI) before tax is 45,3% and after tax is 31,7%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax is 1,81 year and after tax is 2,4 year. Break Even Point (BEP) is 41,48% and shut down point (SDP) is 22,11%. Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) calculated about 32%. From the appropriateness analysis above, we can conclude that this factory is profitable and appropriate to build. Keywords : Adipic Acid, sikloheksanon, nitric acid
