While to collect the data of students’ score of reading comprehension, the writer used test. Then. techniques of analysis the data in this study are simple correlation and multiple linear regression. The result of analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between motivation (X1) and reading comprehension (Y) (rxy 0,853>0,304). The correlation between motivation and reading comprehension is significant (10,337>1,671)). There is a positive correlation between student’s intelligence (X2) and reading comprehension (Y) (rxy = 0,721>0,304). The correlation coefficient between student’s intelligence and reading comprehension is significant (6,572> 1,671). There is significance correlation between motivation (X1) and student’s intelligence (X2) with reading comprehension (Y),in which the value of for regression is 53,417 and the value of for df (2; 39) at the level of significance α = 0,05 is 3,32, so the F0 is greater than Ft (53,417 > 3,32). The result of the study also shows that the relative contribution of motivation and intelligence quotient and reading comprehension is 73% and the hypothesis saying that the motivation and intelligence quotient positively and significantly influences the achievement of reading comprehension of the seventh semester of English department students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is accepted.
