Abstract

This research investigates code mixing in Solo Best Line of Solo radio station. It aims to describe the forms of code mixing and to describe the reasons of using the code mixing. The data of this research are Indonesian-English code mixing occurred in conversation in Solo Best Line of Solo radio station and information about the reasons of using code mixing from the broadcasters. The data are taken from SoloBest Line on 25-29 of March by using recording and interview in collecting the data. The data are analyzed based on their linguistic forms and the reasons of using the code by employing the theory proposed by Ohoiwutun. The result of the research shows that there are five forms of code mixing: word, phrase, hybrid, word reduplication, and clause. Moreover there are three reasons of using the codes: need filling motive, prestige filling motive and other reasons. Other reasons include five reasons: to respect, to refine, to make more interesting, to give information, and to show personal speaking habit.
