Abstract

This research aims at measuring students’ vocabulary mastery. This research measures English vocabulary mastery of the second grade students in MTSN Ngemplak Boyolali using two written test form. There are word meaning test and the sentences construction test. The vocabulary used the test are collected from the words that often occur in junior high school text books. It is a quantitative research that studies vocabulary mastery at the second grade of MTSN Ngemplak, Boyolali. To collect the data the writer uses junior high school text books while. To analyze the data, the writer take from Arikunto technique with used a percentage correction technique is employed in MTSN Ngemplak, Boyolali. Based on the analysis, the writer comes to some conclusions. In word meaning test, the students get good level with percentage 73.5%. In sentences construction test, the student get good level with percentage 72.3 %. In the percentage of word meaning test, no students get poor level and fair level. The students who get good level is 77%. The students who get excellent level is 23%. In the sentence construction test, no students get poor level and fair level. The students who get good level is 70%. The students who get excellent level is 30%. Thus, it can be said that the vocabulary mastery in writing for the second grade students in MTSN Ngemplak, Boyolali is good.
