Abstract

The general objective of this research is to improve the students’ pronunciation using Audio Lingual Method. While, the specific objectives are describing the process of Audio Lingual Method using the native speaker’s pronunciation, and knowing the improvement of the students’ pronunciation. In achieving the objectives of the research, the researcher uses Audio Lingual Method. It is conducted in two cycles. Each cycle of the action consists of four steps: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research is held in SMP N 1 Banyudono. The subject of this study is 40 students of class viia SMP N 1 Banyudono. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses a classroom action research (CAR) taken from observation, test and interview. There are two cycles in this action research in which cycle one was conducted just one meeting, and cycle two was conducted in two meetings. In cycle one, the researcher was a model to introduce the pronunciation. While, in cycle two the researcher implements Audio Lingual Method by playing cassette. After analyzing the data, the writer describes the result of the research in which the mean score of pre test is 77, 38 and post test is 82. The result both of pre test and post test indicates that the students have a significant improvement in pronunciation. The students also show a positive response to this method. They look more enthusiastic and more confident to speak.
