Abstract
In this research, the writer discusses register in film making. The objectives in this research are: to describe the linguistic form of the register, and to describe the meaning of the register. The type of this research is qualitative research. In collecting the data, the writer applied the documentation method by reading the book of “Mari Membuat Film: Panduan Menjadi Produser” by Heru Effendy. Then the data are analyzed based on the linguistic form and the meaning of register as what proposed by Poedjosoedarmo theory. The results of this research show that: 1)The linguistic forms of the register in film making are in the form of noun, verb, adjective, and compound word. There are 14 data which belong to original noun (35,91%), 4 data which belong to derivative noun (10,26%), 3 data which belong to original verb (7,69%), 1 datum which belong to adjective (2,56%), 6 data which belong to one word compound (15,38%), and 11 data belong to two word compound (28,20%). 2) The register of making movie has six classification of meaning: the real meaning is broader than the new meaning: 4 data (10,26%). The real meaning is narrower than the new meaning: 3 data (7,69%). The real meaning shares some features with the new meaning: 10 data (25,64%). The real meaning is identical with the new meaning: 8 data (20,51%). The real meaning is different from the new meaning: 9 data (23,08%). The new meaning does not have the real meaning: 5 data (12,82%).
