Abstract

This research investigates Code Mixing in a newspaper. It aims to find the form, type and reasons of using Code Mixing in SOLOPOS daily newspaper. This research is a qualitative research. The data are Code Mixings used in KRIIING SOLOPOS. The data are collected by documentation. The data are analyzed during 11th - 17th August 2008 based on the form, type and reasons of the use. The research shows that (1) The Form of Code Mixing are word, compound and hybrid. There are 20 words or 53,63 % out of all data 15 compound words or 39,47%, and 3 hybrid or 7,89% out of all data. (2) Type of Code Mixing are all Outer Code Mixing. (3) Reasons of the use of Code Mixing there are four reasons, namely Need-Feeling Motive, Prestige-Feeling Motive, To Refine and To Give Information. Need-Feeling Motive has 9 data or 23,68%. Prestige-Feeling Motive has 13 data or 34,21% out of all data. To Refine reason has 4 data or 10% and To Give Information reason has 12 data or 31,58%.
