Abstract

A Free radical is a compound produced under normal circumstances on metabolic processes. Proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids can be damaged by chemical reactivity of free radicals. The long-term damage can lead to degenerative diseases. The use of antioxidants is able to capture the free radicals.Plants that can produce antioxidants naturally one is meniran (Phyllantus niruri L.). this study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity with DPPH of meniran herbs and know the content of compounds with 1 HNMR spectroscopic methods. The method used for isolation is maceration, fractionation methods ponder castings, vacuum liquid chromatography, column chromatography followed press and preparative chromatography.the result of each test performed fractionation of antioxidant and the results of preparative chromatography to indentify 1 HNMR. Isolates of ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of meniran herb potential as antioxidants with IC50 of 5,849 ppm and 0,770 ppm while the comparison of vitamin E was 6,848 ppm and 1 HNMR identification of isolates showed the presence of compounds of the flavonoids quercetin.
