Abstract

This research is aimed at knowing the procedures, the results and the student response to the implementation of teaching vocabulary using flashcard. The result of this study hopefully will give contribution to the teaching and learning English. In achieving the objective, the writer used an action research involving four procedures; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research was held in SD N 1 Sentono, Klaten. The writer took 35 students of the fourth year. To know the procedures of teaching vocabulary using flashcard, the writer conducts the teaching learning process and the class activity. And to know the result of teaching vocabulary using flashcard the writer gives two kinds of test, namely: pre-test and post test. Each test consists of 20 test items. In pre-test, the highest score is 80, the lowest score is 45 and the mean score is 59,8. While in post-test, the highest score is 95, the lowest score is 50, and the mean score is 74,1. From the two tests the writer compares to know how far the students can achieve the target vocabulary by using flashcard. Finally,it can be concluded that teaching vocabulary using flashcard in SDN 1 Sentono has a good result. The use of flashcard in teaching vocabulary is appropriate and helpful in teaching-learning process. After knowing the procedures and the result, the last, the writer presents the students response to the implementation of teaching vocabulary using flashcard. The result are the students have a high interest in following the teaching learning process, the students are motivated to be active in the class, it is easy to understand, memorize, remember, and it can avoid misunderstanding
