Abstract

This study is aimed at verifying that the parents’ involvement in English learning influences their children English achievement at the third year of SD Al Azhar Syifa Budi Solo. The data are the result of questionnaire script and the student school grade report of first semester. The data are collected by giving the questionnaire to the third year students’ parents of SD Al Azhar Syifa Budi Solo and by documenting their children English achievement from school grade report of the first semester. Then they are analyzed by using simple linear regression, simple correlation, and T-test. The result of the analysis shows that parents’ involvement in English learning influences their children English achievement at the third year of SD Al Azhar Syifa Budi Solo. It can be seen from regression equation: Y = -12,591 + 1,340X and from Hypothesis test (T-test) in which it is found that tvalue for X is(3.265) > ttable (±2.048), which mean that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that parents’ involvement in English learning influences their children English achievement at the third year of SD Al Azhar Syifa Budi Solo. Thus, there is relationship between parents’ involvement and English achievement of their children. Parents with high awareness of their involvement in English learning will cause positive effect toward their children English achievement.
